General Ledger Basic Setup

 

General Ledger Basic Setup is the area where the defaults for the General Ledger are entered for the formatting and characteristics of the General Ledger.  The defaults include:

 

Account Number Size.  The account numbers in EZZ are 9 digits in length.  The account number may be segmented for departmentalized accounting into three (3) segments. 

 

Number of Accounting Period.  Usually the number of period is 12.  The system will handle 3, 4, and 6 quite easily.

 

Current Accounting Period. This is the accounting period into which current business activity is being entered.  This field is where past, closed periods are reopened by entering the period to be reopened.

 

Current Fiscal Year End Date.  Enter the date of the last day of the fiscal year.  Usually, this date will be 12/31/XX.

 

Retained Earnings Account No. Enter in the General Ledger account number for Retained Earnings.  This is the account that the income statement will empty into when the fiscal year is closed.

 

Per Ends.  Enter the last date of each period of the fiscal year.
